Review: Scarlet

scarletScarlet, by Marissa Meyer, is the second book in the YA fantasy series, The Lunar Chronicles. For those of you who don’t know, each book in The Lunar Chronicles has a different main character and a different character that that story revolves around. Don’t worry, they don’t really leave any characters behind, just add more. The part that really impressed and interested me is that each of those main characters is based off a fairy tale character. Cinder is Cinderella, Scarlet is Little Red Riding Hood, Cress is Rapunzel, and the yet to be fourth book, Winter, is Snow White. Each book is named after the main character, which are all female. GIRL POWER! There are also some very nice, lovely guys included also. Can’t leave those out.

I’m in love with this series, officially. The bad part to this is that the new book has yet to be given a release date, though the author has said she has finished writing it. All of the important qualities that make a good book, at least in my opinion, are present: romance, humor, women who think for themselves, adventure, secrets, and guys you can swoon over. Not to mention a really great villain. I’ve just read today that there is going to be a short story to give the background of that villain too.

It took me too long to get this one off my TBR list. I’m glad I did though.
